The aircraft went into 461 Squadron, RAAF on 31st December 1942 at Hamworthy Junction, Dorset, then to Pembroke Dock, Wales, when the Sqn. moved there on 20th April 1943. EJ134 was beached at Praa Sands, South Cornwall on evening of June 2nd 1943 at 2248hrs after aerial combat with eight JU88's while under command of Flight Lieutenant Colin B. Walker (Aus) 404610 D.S.O. Aircraft Category 'E' on 3rd June 1943 - Flight Sergeant E.C.E. 'Ted' Miles 540284 (UK) killed. Crew; F/LT WALKER Aus.404610 F/SGT FULLER (UK) 576061 F/O DOWLING 400788 F/SGT MILLER 405083 F/O AMISS 411112 SGT LANE 414701 F/O SIMPSON 403778 SGT WATSON 26588 SGT MILES (UK) 540284 F/SGT GOODE 407499 SGT TURNER 26697.

As it flew over the boat, he dropped his depth charges which exploded under neath it. This was followed by two further attacks. The Submarine could be seen listing. It rolled on it's side and disappeared. Large airbubbles, followed by a large patch of oil and debri marked it's grave. This could possibly be the first U boat sunk by 10 Sqn.

On the 21/06/42 while the crew were carrying out a search for the crew of a Wellington from 172SQN, of Coastal Command, that they were attacked by an Arado Ar-196. Forced to land on open water it was just after they became stationary that a crew of a 58SQN Whitley observed the Sunderland explode before disappearing under the water.
