Crashed Luddenham 19/02/43 when the engined failed in flight with P/O A F Tutt abandoning the aircraft over South Luddenham, near Sydney Australia. Total Time 140.55 hours. Converted to componants 06/03/43. Written off 08/03/43. The remains of this aircraft still exist in South Australia and has been identified by two seperate sources.
A53-241-7134P-39F-1-BE15B-19Received 27/07/42 2 AD. Served with 24 Sqn 02/08/42 to 07/06/43. 02/10/42 24 Sqn, Shrapnel holed airframe, starboard tyre punchered, windscreen and gunsight damaged. Served with 82 Sqn 21/06/43 to 15/09/43. Returned to the US 5th Air Force 20/09/43.
A53-341-7157P-39F-1-BE15B-42Received 27/07/42 2 AD. Served with 24 Sqn 02/08/42 to 24/02/43. 26/08/42 24 Sqn, undercarriage failed to lock down and aircraft damaged. Engine failure 24/02/43 at Bankstown NSW and damaged beyond repair. Converted to Componants 22/03/43.
A53-441-7163P-39F-1-BE15B-48Received 27/07/42 2 AD. Served with 24 Sqn 02/08/42 to 07/06/43, during this time many repairs completed at 5 AD. Served with 82 Sqn 21/06/43 to 15/09/43. Returned to the US 5th Air Force 20/09/43.
A53-541-7164P-39F-1-BE15B-49Received 27/07/42 2 AD. Served with 24 Sqn 02/08/42 to 26/10/42. Crashed 26/10/42 after an engine failure at Bankstown NSW, aircraft destroyed. Allocated to 2 AD 02/11/42 and converted to componants 03/12/42.
A53-641-7168P-39F-1-BE15B-53Recieved 27/07/42 2 AD. Served with 24 Sqn 02/08/42 to 12/10/42. Holed Propellor 05/09/42 while employed in air to ground gunnery practice. Served with 82 Sqn 07/06/43 to 20/08 or 30/08/43. 20/08/43 or 30/08/43 (Records not clear) Forced Landed due to Engine failure 47 miles due east of Liverpool, aircraft repairable. Crated 22/10/43 for return to the US 5th Air Force, which occured on the 11/11/43.
A53-741-7141P-39F-1-BE15B-26Received 27/07/42 2 AD? Served with 24 Sqn 05/08/42 to 15/05/43. Forced Landing 06/10/42, propellor and engine damage. Served with 83 Sqn 21/05/43 to 04/07/43, while waiting to re-equip with the Boomerang. Served with 82 Sqn 05/07/43 to 15/09/43. Forced Landed at Williamtown NSW 02/09/43. Returned to the US 5th Air Force 22/10/43.
A53-840-3017P-39D-BE15-27Received by 23 Sqn from the USAAC 17/08/42. Served with 23 Sqn 17/08/42 to 26/02/43. Served with 83 Sqn 26/02/43 to 30/03/43. Undercarriage collapsed 30/03/43, with 3 AD from 31/03/43 to 03/04/43. Converted to componants 26/08/43, remains crated and returned to US 5th Airforce.
