Returned to 3AD by Chinook A15-009 after weight reduduction by removing engines, fuel amogst other things. Said to be a write off, but the 3AD staff were allowed to tinker with it over 5 years. Returned to 12 Sqn 25/05/81 with 241 flight hours. Used in transferring containers during grounding of MV "Anro Asia" off Brisbane 07/07/81. Richmond Airshow 1988. Total hours on sale to the USA 09/93 was 2074.1. Modified to CH-47D and flying in US as 93-933 with Company B 214 Aviation Regiment Hawaii NG Nicknamed the Hillclimbers. |

On Wednesday 25 June 2008, an Army Chinook helicopter landed heavily whilst making an approach at the Military Operations in Urban Terrain facility at the High Range Training Area, Townsville. Can anyone help Identify this aircraft.
We understand the Chinooks had earlier names, can anyone please help with names and tieups with serials.
