In service with 79 Sqn December 2001.Special 60th anniversary scheme first noted at RAAF Pearce on 03/09/03.

The scheme features a wide sweeping burgundy band outlined in gold from the the top of the tail to the nose with a large, bright green Cobra superimposed over a flame on the tail. The numerals, 1943-2003 appear in gold on the fuselage either side of the large numerals "79" in blue with the words "Squadron" and "60 years" in gold, superimposed.

Also noteworthy are the letters "UP-U" painted in gold on either side of the nose roundel, no doubt a reminder that this code was carried by a Spitfire in WW2. Completing this wonderful, striking scheme is a subdued and traditional "Rising Phoenix" badge on the engine intake.
