WWII Captured Aircraft Image Gallery

 
     
  Several Axis aircraft were captured by the RAAF or other Australian Forces or claimed as War Prizes by the Australian Government during or shortly after the Second World War. During the war, some aircraft were sent back to Australia as attractions for war Loans Bond tours. Others were even operated for evaluation, used as squadron hacks or as badly needed additional transport and liaison aircraft. A small number of these survived in eventual preservation.

RAAF Cards held

  Rumours have often persisted of various other WWII Luftwaffe aircraft being captured by Australian forces and more information may yet come to light. One source of at least some of these theories have been the existence of a set of cards often associated the more familiar "E/E.88 Aircraft Status Cards" showing some pretty interesting Luftwaffe types.

In reality, these cards are "Aircraft Performance Cards" noting a few intelligence details of the types represented and do not represent actual airframes taken on RAAF charge. Here are a few of them:
