With VF805 10/01/68. With VF805 01/06/68. With VF805 24/01/72. With VF805 08/06/73. With VF805 13/05/74. With VF805 18/06/74. With VF805 01/10/74. With VF805 21/10/76. Withdrawn from RAN service June 30, 1983 and stored for sale. To RNZAF 07/84 as NZ6211, now A-4K. Damaged in mid-air with NZ6210 during Kiwi Red practice doing the roll under brake manouvre on 24/10/89, returned 17/11/90. Served with 2 Sqn RNZAF 2001. Crashed 16/02/01, while conducting practice of barrel roll with NZ6213 hooked up at Nowra NSW. NZ6213 escaped. Killed was Sqn Leader Murray Neilson. Fleet Air Arm Museum Skyhawk, ex-USN A-4B Bu No. 142871, was repainted to represent Skyhawk 882 in 2007. It is now back on display in this scheme. |

Withdrawn from RAN service June 30, 1984. To RNZAF 07/84 as NZ6212, now A-4K. Lost canopy in flight 29/01/86, recovered ok. Retired by RNZAF 2001/2002. |

Withdrawn from RAN service June 30, 1984.To RNZAF 07/84 as NZ6213, now A-4K. Served 2 Sqn RNZAF 2001. Was hooked up to NZ6211 just prior to its crash on 16/02/01 at Nowra NSW. Broke away prior to accident. The aircraft passed the 7000 flight hour mark on deployment to Perth in 2001. Retired by RNZAF 2001/2002. |

Ramp Strike 01/09/71 when flown by SBLT Phil Thompson on 2nd Night Carrier Landing on HMAS Melbourne. Aircraft recovered to Nowra and landed on empty fuel tanks. Aircraft took about a year to be rebuilt. Had bend in Airframe from then onwards. With VF805 13/05/74. With VF805 18/06/74. With VF805 21/10/76. With VF805 07/12/76. Crashed 21/10/80, off HMAS Melbourne 200km SW of Columbo Sri Lanka due to catapult failure and premature hold back failure. (Previous report was incorrect with 'Engine failure just after Catapult launch'). SBLT David Baddams ejected and picked up by RAN helicopter with minor injuries. RAN ejection number 12. The aircraft that was displayed as '885' at the Naval Aviation Museum, then Australia's Museum of Flight until it was repainted as 882 in 2007 is really ex-USN A-4B Bu No. 142871. |

Aircraft came free from chains when aircraft was being repositioned. Maintenenace sailor in cockpit ABATWL Eric R. Krenn suffered lacerations but managed to get clear. Thrown lifebuoy and joined in water by diver. Both picked up by HMAS HOBART (DDG 39). |

Birstrike 10/01/92 Coromandel Peninsula while at 250ft and 420kt, recovered ok and returned 12/92. Retired by RNZAF 2001/2002. |

Crashed into sea off Perth WA 20/03/01 after departing controlled flight during a tight turn and entered a spin, the pilot (Flight Lieutenant Phillip Barnes, 25, of Rotorua) ejected and was in a liferaft for an hour before being rescued by an RAAF SAR Helicopter. |

Damaged in roll over while aquaplaning on landing 03/06/85 at Townsville QLD, it was returned to New Zealand and repaired. It returned to service on 29/03/90. Retired by RNZAF and stored 15/08/01, with 5594 hours on airframe. |
