2003 - Served aboard HMAS Melbourne in Persian Gulf

22/01/01 - during night winching exercises, "Tiger 83" almost ditched in Shoalhaven Bight. The aircraft had problems with the automatic flight control system (AFCS) and came within 3 metres of ditching after spinning around three to five times during an uncontrolled descent. The rear crewmen cut the winch wire and the pilot recovered the aircraft after sending out a May Day message. Source : Australian Navy "TOUCHDOWN" Magazine August 2003.
