After suspecting undercarriage damage from the rough surface the pilot attempted to abort the takeoff but the aircraft swung off the runway and caught fire. The crew escaped but the aircraft was destroyed. | |
| TA597 | FB.VI | Built at Hatfield and delivered sometime between 12 April 1945 and 15 December 1945. Crashed on takeoff at Darwin on 19 August 1947 during delivery flight to New Zealand. As a result of an airspeed indicator problem the pilot abandoned the takeoff. The aircraft over ran the runway and collided with a tree. The aircraft was later used as spares for other delivery flights with the remains finally being sold for 23 pounds 4 shillings and 10 pence in July 1949. | |
| TE746 | FB.VI | Built at Standard Motors and delivered sometime between 27 May 1945 and 21 December 1945. Missing on delivery flight from United Kingdom. The aircraft left Darwin in company with TE927 at 0908 hours on 26 March 1947. Both aircraft were reported overdue in bad weather at 1235 but TE927 landed at Macrossan shortly after 1300. The wreckage of the aircraft was discovered on Sydney Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria on 03 April. Both RAF crew members Wing Commander B. Hoare and Flying Officer W. Colvin were killed in the accident. |
