First flown on 19 November 1964 and delivered to RNZAF on 24 March 1965. Much of the flight testing for the "H" Model Hercules was carried out on this aircraft by Lockheed as it was the first of that model to be flown. Arrived at Wellington on 14 April 1965 and BOC at Hobsonville on 08 April 1965 with No.40 Squadron, Whenuapai. Radio call sign ZMZVA. First deployment was to transport NZ Army detachments to South Vietnam from Whenuapai on 06 July of that year. Outer wing replacement completed in the United States on 11 July 1981. Still in service. |
